Disgusting company that thrives on holding their customers emotionally hostage. They charge exorbitant prices for service and will rob you pockets while smiling.

I am devastated to share our recent experience with VCA in Commack NY, a place we had trusted for 20 years. We brought our 3-year-old dog in for a routine checkup and were assigned a doctor we had never seen before, not our regular vet. This new doctor and staff caused our dog such distress that she suffered a panic attack. During this appointment, they also muffled her with their hands over her mouth and took her in the back for another routine test. When she came back, her lips started to turn blue. This escalated into a heat stroke. We had to rush her to an emergency vet, but tragically, she passed away at 2 am in front of my kids. To make matters worse, the manager did not contact us until 5 pm the next day. When they finally did, they had the audacity to blame us for our dog's death. The quality of care has significantly declined since VCA took over. I strongly urge anyone considering this place to stay away. Our beloved pet might still be with us if we had gone elsewhere. This is what happens when VCs get involved with a Mom and Pop business.

I have been going to this place for years. I have seven pets and I take four of them here. I have laid two of my dogs to rest in their office. So let me say I don’t take this lightly. I had to take my dog who is almost 15 to the emergency vet because she presented with extreme pain. So I took her to Jones VCA two days later to see if we can figure out what happened. They did their exam and even though they saw a huge red mark on her belly with a big red line around it the doctor said and I quote I don’t know what that is. Dr Knight. And then they said we need to run $1200 worth of test to see if she has cancer. We’ll deal with that later. Let’s just get on three different pain medications bc it’s late on a Saturday. We can send test that spot on her stomach later. So the spot gets worse. I posted on Facebook and my friend who is a nurse tells me it looks like a brown recluse bite. She’s a human nurse not a Veterinarian. So I take Harley back. And I see a different vet who gives an antibiotic. Mind you they charged me again. Despite the fact that they’re Dr. screwed up, they did not take any accountability for that. So my dog keeps throwing up and she keeps pacing because she’s in pain. So they give us a different amoxicillin even though the first one with something else was making her vomit . so they tell us why will give you four pills of antinausea for $30. And if that doesn’t work, then you need to bring her in yet again and we’re gonna charge you for that again even though we screwed up to begin with. Of course they didn’t admit that. So at this point between the emergency vet in there that were over $600 and we still have her really sick. So today we called another vet and one of the first questions they asked us what was the anti-nausea they put her on. And when my husband said they never offered that until we called a fourth time. She paused because she was so confused that they didn’t give us antinausea to begin with.. Their poor performance, charging me over and over even though they’re doctor could not access a simple spider bite, has cause my dog so much pain and so much grief. It’s $95 to see the doctor now.. I can no longer recommend them. If I were you, I would find somewhere else because their doctors can’t even access a spider bite, and when they see something that you’re going to hear we’re gonna go on a cancer hunt and we’re going to ignore this giant blazing red mark w a huge red line around it. Terrible handling. The very least they could’ve done was not charge us for the recheck. So we had to spend over $100 to come back and they didn’t even give us anti-nausea even though we told her she was getting sick. If I were you, I would just avoid them. Very disappointed and now I have to find a brand new vet for all seven of my pets.

Do Not bring your pet to any VCA for they only care about money and not your pet or it's well being. This establishment is run by criminals who put greed over the animals they pretend to care for they have recently raised their prices so astronomically high that the average pet owner will go in the debt train to provide care for their animal. The staff that work at the vca are mostly good people however those running the vca corporate office are greedy and only care about how much they can make off every customer. I would suggest supporting every other emergency clinic in the vicinity before I ever went to a vca again.

No concept of customer service. They do not return phone calls. My pet insurance will not process my claim because they can not get records from VCA Hillcrest who has been nonresponsive to their requests. There are no records but they can't even get confirmation of that. Stay away from this company...for your pet's health and your sanity.

***Let me be clear. This review is in relation to the MANAGEMENT AT VCA. Not the wonderful employees at the Barkley and adjacent hospital who took such good care of our dog.*** Our beautiful German Shepherd Toni was mauled by a a dog in the lobby of @barkley_westlake last week. The dog was known to be aggressive and dangerous and is separated from all of the other dogs…once through the gates. The dog was not however separated in the lobby. It broke free from its leash and mauled my dog unprovoked. It had to be ripped from her leg leaving a huge gaping wound and skin hanging off of her leg. She was taken to the hospital next door. It was an awful traumatic experience but the staff at the Barkley were fantastic. What was not fantastic however was the management or ‘corporate’. We asked them to cover the costs of having to stay in a hotel as she can not handle stairs right now. We asked them to cover the costs of dog pee pads, urine spray and training to help her reintegrate after a traumatic experience. We did not ask for any additional compensation. Today they called and told us they weren’t at fault…but have now changed their policies to ensure aggressive dogs have ‘curb side checkin’. I assume we should be thankful that this change is answer AFTER my dog was attacked ? They offered us a paltry amount of money which won’t even cover the hotel costs. Instead. The manager - Brian - asked if I had spoken to the other dog owner, because they believe them to be at fault. Way for a huge corporate to shirk responsibility ! Just posting this out there because ya know, freedom of speech and I can say what I like.

They absolutely have an agenda of what they are selling with no regard for a pet’s care. My poor dog cried that he did not want to stay there. I had a bad feeling and asked that he be returned to me. They refused to give him back to me and kept him for more than 12 hours. I should have called the police immediately. Unfortunately they returned my dog to me almost dead. He had an easily and previously treated condition and they had not given him the medication they had said they would and he died a few hours later. They tried to hide what they had done to him, obstructing justice, and hiding medical records, which we finally received and found they had mistreated him. I am not sure how the authorities will handle this. I do feel a responsibility to let other’s know.

VCA is nothing but a money grab. And while they may have competnt vets at some of their numerous locations nationally , you are playing Russian roulette with your animals life. Because they are the only vet in my rural area, I unfortunately had no choice. They outright in my mind murdered one of my dogs 4 years back. They had the opertuniy and recently did it again at the Parker Colorado location. Then they charged me at an Aurora location and for lab work and imaging over 5000. They refuse to turn over a copy of an MRI they did on one of my rescue animals' spine.then,vand once yet again, they missed a UTI on my sister in-laws dog and almost killed it too. She took her dog out just in time to another vet who was competnt and saved the animal. They had the audacity to double charge her for procedures they supposedly did.
